It’s Impossible to Overdose on Weed

It doesn’t matter how much or how often you toke- it’s impossible to overdose on weed. And if you were to smoke enough to kill you, it wouldn’t even be because of the bud. It would have to be from carbon monoxide poisoning. Too much of a lot of things can be fatal, even something as seemingly harmless as water. But now weed! It is important to note that while it’s impossible to overdose on weed, that doesn’t mean it can’t be dangerous. Never smoke and drive. Never give pot to underage people. And never forget to puff and pass.

No one has ever overdosed on weed

There has not been one reported death because of an overdose of marijuana. And the science tells us that it’s not likely that it will ever happen. According to the National Cancer Institute, it’s impossible to overdose on marijuana. This because our bodies cannabinoid receptors are not located in the brainstem regions that control respiration. Our opioid receptors on the other hand- are, making lethal overdoses on them very possible. Long story (and a lot of science) short, cannabis does not work in the pathways that could cut off a person’s access to air. The lethal dose of marijuana is estimated to be 40,000 times the average dose.

What happens if you smoke too much?

While it may be impossible to overdose on marijuana, it isn’t possible to smoke more than you can handle. Ingesting more THC than your body is ready to cope with can lead to a number of unpleasant sensations. These symptoms can include dizziness, nausea, anxiety/paranoia and more. Experiencing one or more of these is often called “greening out”. It’s important to be accompanied by someone who is experienced with cannabis when getting high for the first few times. Until you get the hang of things, it will also be useful to keep track of your dosing and what strains worked best for you.
