There are a few ways to make cannabis-infused tea. Steeping your buds with hot water is an option that results in a tea that contains very low amounts of THC. You won’t experience the euphoric high because THC is not water-soluble. The alternative is to decarboxylate your weed first with a fat such as a coconut oil. THC binds to oils. Decarboxylation is a crucial step in extracting THC from the plant. Heat is applied during the decarb process and THCA, a non-intoxicating compound, is converted to THC. THC is the active compound that delivers different medicinal and psychoactive effects when compared with THCA.

The key to making a fast cup of tea is to have some medicated coconut butter on hand. The decarb process takes a bit of time and having a premade jar of cannabutter nearby is your best bet. The ingredients in our recipe below can be easily substituted.

Weed infused turmeric latte

Cannabis Turmeric Latte

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon cannabis-infused coconut oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of unsweetened milk of your choice (almond, dairy, coconut, etc.)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey to taste (option to add more or less)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric
  • 1 small piece of ginger (unpeeled and thinly sliced)

Directions

  1. Combine milk, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, and honey in a saucepan. Bring to a low boil.
  2. Whisk coconut milk, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, honey, peppercorns, and 1 cup water in a small saucepan; bring to a low boil.
  3. Reduce heat and add the medicated coconut oil.
  4. Simmer until flavours have melded, about 10 minutes.
  5. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into mugs and top with a dash of cinnamon.

Cannabis-infused tea, like all THC-infused edibles, delivers the best results when following the slow and low rule. Edibles require a minimum of 30 mins after consumption for the euphoric effects to kick in. The THC levels of homemade edibles vary depending on the moisture level of your weed, amount used, and temperature levels of your oven.
